Let us remember what the Lord Jesus told us 2000 years
ago: seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and its righteousness and all the
rest shall be added unto you. That should be our goal. And a vivid example of
how this works is provided by the story of the two thieves nailed to the cross
with Jesus. One was seeking to be relieved of the pain of the cross. He
demanded a miracle from Jesus. Save yourself and save us he said. But the thief
on the right made a humble plea to Jesus: Remember me in your kingdom. He got a
promise of entering Paradise, the goal of all spiritual striving! That story is
so clear that we need not expatiate further. Beware therefore you earthly
miracle seeker. Seek instead for the miracle of all miracles: the miracle of
entering Paradise!
