HOW CORRECT ARE SOME POPULAR BELIEFS? – (PART VI)

5. “The purpose of man’s existence is just to live as best we can, accumulate material wealth, get married and have children and if possible have as many earthly honours as possible and if we are successful in these and in the end get a religious burial, then our purpose has been achieved.”

According to this belief we live only once and as such we should materially make the best out of it. The reality of our lives, however, is often different and testifies to the fact that this world view is wrong. What is the purpose of being born, growing up and going to school, getting a job, getting married and accumulating material wealth only to leave all these things behind again when we die? No wonder some people say that life on earth is inexplicable!

It is inconceivable to imagine that the Omniscient Father would create us just solely for the above mentioned gross material based purpose. What we have accepted as the way of our lives today is simply our own creation. We have devised this way and "purpose of life" for ourselves. The purpose for which we were created has been lost to us because for thousands of years we have failed to listen to those sent by God who could tell us what this purpose was. We preferred to create our own purpose because we preferred to be masters instead of servants. We did not want to hear what God wanted for us and what He had designed for our existence. We wanted to listen only to our own voices. This is why today the purpose of our lives is lost to us.

All the various prophets of old were never truly successful because we never allowed them to be successful. They were persecuted, slandered and even killed in some cases until finally we committed the unthinkable: the murder of the Son of God sent to us to show us the way out of our shameful ignorance.

If you wish to know the real purpose of life I urge you to examine the book In The Light Of Truth: The Grail Message by Abd-ru-shin.
But today you can experience briefly what the author of the Grail Message has said on this matter. I quote:

“Only those exhibiting the most reprehensible thoughtlessness can imagine that the purpose of man’s existence consists primarily of pursuing and gaining physical necessities and enjoyments, and that at the last moment, through a few beautiful words and some external ceremonies, he could be conveniently freed from all guilt and from the consequences of his own indolent carelessness during his life on earth! The passage through life and the step into the beyond at physical death is not the same as an everyday journey for which one only needs to buy a ticket at the last moment!

With such a belief man doubles his guilt, for every doubt in the incorruptible Justice of the Perfect God is blasphemy! To believe in an arbitrary, easy forgiveness of sins, however, is a manifest proof of doubt in the incorruptible Justice of God and His Laws and, what is more, such a person directly confirms his belief that God acts arbitrarily, which amounts to the same thing as being deficient and imperfect.

Poor wretched believers!

It would be better for them if they were still unbelievers, for then they would be unhindered and could more easily find the way they imagine they have already found!”

From the lecture: I am the Lord thy God!
