IS IT RIGHT TO CELEBRATE ST. VALENTINE’S DAY AS LOVERS DAY?

I will not wish to go into the history of Valentine’s Day. But I can sense the import of your question. I will therefore like to share with you my own experiences in this regard. When in our immediate surroundings fellow human beings are celebrating love, we need not stand aside and refuse to experience it joyfully. The only thing is that we should take that opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of love. This morning for example I thought of the Love of the Almighty that made me come into being and exist in the first place. For indeed man only came into existence due to the immeasurable love of God.  One can also survey the help that has come to mankind from the Creator from age to age. From the time of the Prophets up to the time of Sending Jesus Who is the Personification of God’s Love. Jesus fulfilled this Love by showing men the Way back to The Father through His Word of Truth. Man failed to heed the Word of Jesus and now out of Love, there is on earth today a New Word of Truth that can save man from the danger of eternal damnation which will be the reward of all those who have failed to embrace the hand of Love extended from God to man.

You can then extend this by thinking of how to give true love also to your neighbor.  To extend the Love you have received from the Almighty to all those who are around you. This does not limit it to only one special person nor to a particular day but to all who are in contact with you both far and near and every day. Show them love. A word of encouragement, considerate behaviour, wise advice, or even a smile can make all the difference. So we need not be rigid in matters such as this and say: celebrate Valentine’s Day or don’t.  We should simply ensure that whatever we do at all times is done out of love and never out of malice or evil intentions. Every day can be filled to the brim with love pure and simple!
